The songs essentially spell out the first and middle names of the individuals used in this project. The subjects birthdates were used to determine the rhythms, birthplace to determine guitar sound, and a personal anecdote to inspire the lyrics. All creative decisions were based on information particular to the participants. Additionally, various methods of recording were alphabetically assigned to each track. The pieces were written and recorded at the time of creation, one element at a time. They were never rehearsed in a traditional manner, and only now do they exist as songs. The artists acted as utilitarian beings in service of a given work, allowing each piece its autonomy.

One thousand compact discs have been manufactured and numbered individually (1001-2000). Each disc will begin a potentially endless journey around the world as it is handed from person to person. The discs are not for sale, nor are to be kept, but you may make a copy of it for your own use. Interested in obtaining a Utility CD? Click on REQUEST.
